Lisa Grenis is a retired educator who taught for 26 years, most of those years in Calvert County.
In addition to teaching, she’s been a Learning Specialist, working with teachers and students to provide targeted instruction to improve academic achievement.
Experience
- Elected to CCPS Board of Education 2022
- Named Vice President 2025, 2026
- Teacher and Learning Specialist – 26 years
Grenis was also a parent volunteer and had two children graduate from Calvert County Public Schools.
She is currently serving her second year as Vice President of the Board of Education and looks forward to serving the community for another four years.
Accomplishments
- Banned cell phones and hoodies in all classrooms to eliminate distractions and increase safety
- Revised mission statement to prioritize academic achievement
- Voted for a new Superintendent who is highly qualified, invested, proactive, and responsive
- Made a motion to conduct CCPS’s first efficiency audit
- Supported a fiscally responsible, transparent zero-based budget
- Supported flag policies to eliminate classroom distractions and ensure classrooms remain politically neutral
- Added more School Resource Officers (SROs)
- Initiated change to the 50% grading policy

Why is she running for reelection?
Lisa Grenis looks forward to serving another term on the CCPS BOE and providing students with the best education possible.
Grenis is excited about the tremendous progress CCPS has already made and will continue to prioritize academic excellence.
What she will advocate for

- Building a safe school environment for students and staff
- Enforcing the code of conduct

What will she do to ensure taxpayer money is appropriately spent?
CCPS faces budget challenges ranging from teacher retention, overcrowded classrooms, and staffing shortages to transportation costs and equipment needs. The key is more transparency and knowing where to prioritize spending.
Grenis is committed to cutting waste and inefficiency across CCPS and putting the community’s money where it can have the biggest impact. The budget needs to prioritize the needs of our students and staff.
